With thirty-seven subdivisions to choose from that offer lakefront, water view and off-water property, the Lake of Egypt offers something for everyone.

The Lake of Egypt has 2,300 acres of water and 93 miles of shoreline. Whether you are considering becoming a property owner or simply a visitor, there is plenty of room for you on the lake.

For the visitor and property owner alike, the lake currently has three marinas that offer mooring, launching, food, grocery and some gas:

Waterskiing, tubing and jet skis are permitted in the designated areas. 

Fishing includes Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, Striped Bass, and Crappie.

The lake is owned by Southern Illinois Power Cooperative (SIPC). SIPC also owns the shoreline up to the 505 elevation and in some cases, 515 elevation.  

Terms of lake use are regulated by SIPC and are outlined in their "Official Lake of Egypt Rules and Regulations".

The lake's average depth is 18 feet with a maximum depth of 52 feet.  Pontoon boats up to 28 feet are allowed and hull boats are to be no longer than 20 feet.
