Residents and visitors will benefit from this website
In a cooperative effort with the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, The Vienna Times and Goreville Gazette has launched the only county-wide, interactive web portal. With the assistance of U of I Extension Service in Vienna, the site went live August 28.
New features are being added on a daily bases. Some of the sites unique features include:
• Breaking News link found on the home page, for those late breaking announcements.
• Live broadcast of Vienna/Goreville football games.
• A comprehensive, county-wide calendar of events that allows anyone to suggest events for posting.
• The opportunity for area residents to post information directly, telling their own story of Johnson County.
• Business advertising to a new market world-wide, including e-commerce opportunities.
• An economic opportunity for small businesses to have a web presence with inexpensive mini web sites or landing pages.
• Local weather information.
• An on-line welcome wagon on the 'Live' page, for potential new residents.
• Detailed information about county, city and village governments.
• Lots of tourism related articles to help bring visitors to Johnson County.
The goal of the new website is to aid in economic growth of the county in three ways.
First, by encouraging new businesses to move into the area.
Second, by sharing the quality of life the county has to over its residents. Thus encouraging new people to want to live in the county.
And, finally, by showcasing the wonderful attractions, activities and recreational opportunities for visitors to spend money in the county.
