Shawnee Survey & Consulting, Inc.
Shawnee Survey & Consulting, Inc. (SSCI), based in Vienna, has been in operation for nearly fifteen years.
President, Mitch Garrett founded SSCI from his home near Simpson in 1995. He relocated to Vienna in 1999.
Mitch's wife, Bonita, serves as corporate secretary. The Garrett's children, Zach and Tara assists in the financial bookkeeping department. Another son, Brandon Garrett is employed by the Pfizer Corporation.
Mitch also serves as the firm's Chief of Field Operations at SSCI. He is a 1980 graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology. The firm is licensed as a Professional Design Firm in Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri, and is in the process of becoming licensed in Tennessee, Arkansas and Indiana.
Billy Abernathy, partner in the firm since 1999, holds the offices of Vice President and Chief of Survey Operations. He is a 1998 graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale with a degree in Civil Engineering with a Land Surveying Specialization. Bill is licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in Illinois. Bill and his family currently reside in Anna, Illinois.
John Wallace is the Survey Project Manager. He is a 2004 graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale with a degree in Civil Engineering with a Land Surveying Specialization. John is licensed as a Land Surveyor In Training. John and his family currently reside in Golconda, Illinois.
Shawnee Survey & Consulting is comprised of two professional land surveyors, one professional engineer, three field crews, and an office staff of project managers. It's current staff has fifteen members.
SSCI provides land boundary surveys, American Land Title Association and the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ALTA/ACSM) surveys, construction staking, control surveys for aerial photography, environmental surveys, estate surveys, geodetic control surveys, topographic surveys, and engineering services.
SSCI customers are from throughout the midwest. Their clients over the years have included government institutions, municipalities, real estate developers, engineering consulting firms, and architectural companies, as well as private individuals.
SCCI has successfully completed work for U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Ducks Unlimited, U.S. Forest Service, U.S.D.A., Missouri and Illinois Departments of Conservation, and Illinois Department of Transportation.
SSCI works together as a team applying their knowledge and skills for such purposes as field data collection, mapping, well locations, petroleum pipelines, design surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction layout.
Data is obtained from digital ground-based surveying equipment, aerial photos, and satellites. Some surveying personnel work outdoors in field crews as crew chiefs and instrument technicians gathering the data necessary to begin work on your project.
Other personnel work in the office as land surveyors, project managers and CADD technicians completing the final work necessary to deliver the final survey.
SSCI has the equipment, experience and personnel necessary to provide construction layout for any projects. They have performed layout of buildings, city streets, major highways, curb and gutter, railroads, water lines, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, petroleum pipelines, sanitary landfills, parking lots, etc.
SSCI realizes that every project and contractor are different, that’s why they provide a customized service to meet the varying needs of their clients.
